One of the most common questions we get from prospective residents is: "Is Sarasota good for dogs?" The answer is a resounding yes. CitySide is a pet-friendly community, and the city has plenty of parks, trails, and outdoor spots where your dog will feel right at home.

Bayfront Park & Waterfront Path

The waterfront path at Bayfront Park is a favorite for CitySide dog owners. The flat, paved path runs along Sarasota Bay with great morning and evening light, and leashed dogs are welcome throughout. You'll quickly become a regular — and your dog will make friends with half the neighborhood.

Payne Park

About 1 mile from CitySide, Payne Park has a dedicated off-leash dog park (the Dog Park at Payne Park) with separate areas for large and small dogs. It's fenced, has water stations, and gets a lively crowd on weekend mornings. The park also has walking paths, a skate park, and a café.

Turtle Beach (Dog-Friendly Beach)

Most Gulf beaches don't allow dogs, but Turtle Beach on the south end of Siesta Key is the exception — dogs are welcome on leash. It's a quieter, more natural beach than the main Siesta Key strip, with shaded picnic areas and calm water. A 20-minute drive from CitySide, it's worth the trip for a beach day with your dog.

Legacy Trail

The Legacy Trail is a 18.5-mile paved rail trail that runs from downtown Sarasota south through the county. The northern trailhead at Payne Park is easily accessible from CitySide. It's flat, well-maintained, and popular with cyclists, runners, and dog walkers. Dogs must be leashed on the trail.

Pet-Friendly Dining

Many downtown Sarasota restaurants have dog-friendly patios. Mattison's City Grille, The Grill at 1592, and O'Leary's Tiki Bar at the marina all welcome well-behaved leashed dogs on their outdoor areas. Always call ahead to confirm.

Veterinary Care Near CitySide

Several veterinary clinics are within a few miles, including Sarasota Veterinary Center and VCA Gulf Gate Animal Hospital. An emergency vet (BluePearl) is located nearby for after-hours needs.
